The links to their responses as well as their campaign website are listed underneath their photos. For the candidates who opted out only their photos are posted. An (I) next to a name signifies an incumbent.

City of Marietta 2025 Municipal Election


The City of Marietta will hold elections for mayor, city council, and the Marietta Board of Education. This is one of the largest municipal elections in recent years, with several contested races.


To help connect the public with candidates in municipal races, the Cobb County Democratic Committee has reviewed candidates whose values align with ours and is recommending select individuals. All candidates on this page were invited to complete a questionnaire, and responses are shared where available.

  • Early Voting: October 14–31, 2025
  • Election Day: November 4, 2025
  • Runoff (if needed): December 2, 2025


Early voting includes two Saturdays and one include Sunday.

Mayor

Sam Foster

Mayor of Marietta, Georgia

Sam Foster, an IT Systems Engineer, is running for Mayor of Marietta to create a city that is more affordable, connected, and livable for all residents. His working-class upbringing and personal experiences with housing and transit challenges inspired his commitment to improving public transportation, infrastructure, and housing affordability. Foster believes current leadership has failed to deliver progress and calls for bold investment in walkable neighborhoods, safer streets, and inclusive development that benefits everyday people. He emphasizes transparency, accountability, and grassroots engagement through open data, town halls, and direct community involvement. Guided by fairness, equity, and collaboration, he pledges to build a “Marietta for Everyone” by ensuring all residents have a real voice in shaping the city’s future.

Anthony McCalla

Marietta City Council Ward 1


Anthony McCalla, a former MARTA Police Sergeant and security consultant, is running for Marietta City Council Ward 1 to bring transparency to local government. His campaign is rooted in community engagement, pledging open communication through regular town halls, public reports, and inclusive outreach to underrepresented groups.
