Cobb County Democrats Demand Justice for Mr. Mahendra Patel!

The Cobb County Democratic Committee (CCDC) is demanding immediate action from Cobb County District Attorney Sonya Allen. In the name of due process, drop all charges and release Mr. Mahendra Patel — an innocent man who remains unjustly incarcerated for over 49 days, following a deeply troubling incident of misconduct by the Acworth Police Department. We further call for criminal charges against the Caroline Miller, who falsely accused Mr. Patel of attempted kidnapping.

Mr. Patel’s arrest was based on false and unfounded allegations. Since then, clear video evidence has surfaced proving no kidnapping attempt occurred.

And yet, Mr. Patel remains in jail, facing baseless charges that should have been dismissed the moment this evidence came to light.

The Acworth Police Department chose force over dialogue, criminalization over justice and silence over accountability. This is a pattern of overreach and abuse of authority, not an isolated error.

Despite formal outreach, CCDC has received no response from DA Sonya Allen. The lack of communication is unacceptable. The continued incarceration of Mr. Patel is a blatant miscarriage of justice.

We demand:

  • His full and unconditional release.
  • Immediate dismissal of all charges against Mr. Mahendra Patel and have his record restricted and sealed.
  • An independent investigation into the Cobb County DA's deviation from historical practices and Acworth Police Department’s pattern of misconduct.

Mr. Patel’s continued detention reflects a dangerous precedent: criminalizing peaceful community members while shielding law enforcement abuse. We will not let this go unanswered.
