Erick Allen One Step Closer to Commissioner Seat

JP Popham | Published on 3/11/2025

The Cobb County Democratic Committee is thrilled to announce Erick Allen will be the Democrat that succeeds Jerica Richardson on the Cobb County Board of Commissioners for District 2.

Allen won the runoff against Dr. Jaha Howard on Tuesday and is now on their way to defeat the GOP candidate in the April 29 Special General Election.

“I commend both candidates for their dedication to Cobb County and District 2,” said CCDC Chair Essence Johnson. “Erick and Jaha ran positive, issue-focused campaigns and built a strong foundation of support in District 2.”

Republicans vainly hoped that Allen and Howard would run hardline campaigns and divide the Democrats base of support.

However despite their differences, both men were uniquely qualified for the position of commissioner and offered more than GOP candidate Alicia Adams who has refused to participate in public forums.

“Once again, I want to express my appreciation to the voters in District 2 who went to the polls to choose me as their next Cobb County commissioner,” Allen said. “Today’s victory would not have been possible without you, and I know I can count on you as we advance to the April 29 general election.”

“Going to the polls in both February and March is out of the ordinary, but I’m glad for those who did. I hope everyone who supported me this winter will continue to do so when the polls re-open next month, and over the next few weeks I will continue to speak to our fellow District 2 residents to win them over to our cause.”

He also commended his Democratic runoff opponent for running a respectable campaign during this runoff and wished both he and his family well. Those interested in volunteering or contributing toward Allen’s campaign in the general election, please visit www.ErickforCobb.com to sign up.

Allen is a former Representative in the Georgia State House. After a 2022 run for Lt. Governor Of Georgia, he was elected Chair of the Cobb County Democrats, and is now a candidate for Cobb County Commission District 2. Allen works as a management consultant and lives in the Vinings area with his wife, Dr. Tameka Allen, and daughter, Elise.

Allen will appear on the April 29 Special General Election ballot and face-off against Adams, the former disqualified republican candidate for District 2.

With no real experience to back her up, Adams has adopted a similar campaign message to Kayla Morgan, the failed 2024 GOP candidate for chair of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners. Like Morgan, Adams touts her inexperience in government proudly and relies on hollow anecdotes about the state of Cobb County.

Her ineptitude was called out several times by former Democratic D2 candidate Tracy Stevenson during the primary race earlier this year on the Nextdoor app. Others chimed in on various posts in response to Adams, many of whom were conservative republicans, to express their lack of enthusiasm for her campaign.
