ICE Has Subpoenaed Cobb County Voter Information

In a pathetic attempt to intimidate voters, the Department of Homeland Security has subpoenaed 13 voter files from the Secretary of State’s office, including one from Cobb County.

While details are still emerging, it’s clear that this is a part of a larger effort to find phantom “voter fraud” and intimidate voters ahead of the 2026 midterms. In an open records request obtained by the Cobb County Democratic Committee, information subpoenaed by ICE includes voter registration, voter history, and possibly more.

“While this is only limited to one person at this time, it’s not something we can just ignore,” said CCDC Chair Essence Johnson. “This continued witch hunt for voter fraud is an attempt to sow distrust in our election system and corrode election integrity.”

The seizure of these documents is a part of a wider effort by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement to find what they believe are noncitizens voting in elections. There is no evidence that this is a widespread problem and opens a dangerous door to voter protection.

“We need people to verify they are registered to vote and vote early,” said Johnson. “We must not let these fear tactics succeed. We must show up to the polls in overwhelming numbers and be prepared for republicans to cry fraud when they lose.”
